Tasty wheels

vert

I saw a story on this company on the CBC this morning.

Vert catering is a Toronto based catering company with a socially and environmentally responsible business model. Their food is local, fresh and seasonal. Aside from working closely with local suppliers like Fiesta Farms , Fresh from the Farm , Dufferin Grove Farmers’ Market , La Fromagerie , Green Shift and Autoshare. They also carry a full range of 100% compostable containers (made of sugar), cutlery (made of potato), clear sandwich bags (made of corn) and brown paper bags. I have yet to actually try their food, but the reviews I have read are very positive, I will have to hop on my bike and pay their store a visit (Open Mon – Fri  11:30am – 7:00pm).

As if they weren’t cool enough already, they have taken it one step further by launching their office bike deli service. They deliver freshly made, gourmet fare directly to your office using a 1926 traditional Pashley British Bakers Bicycle! To all of my 9 to 5ers, heads up (delivery menu bellow). There is no pre-ordering required, you can arrange a convenient day for your whole office and rain or shine they’ll deliver gourmet healthy brown bag lunches weekly, just contact them via email.
Bike riding + yummy food = perfect side gig, don’t be surprised if you see me on the other end of your brown bag.

i remember an interview with the owner where he described that they were retro-fitting a delivery van to run on used vegetable oil. Wonder how that went.
