I find that a lot of these images make it very difficult to derive useful meaning from the data. When presenting to execs, it's not about listing data points, the difficulty is in driving home the point of a chart or data set.. the main purpose is not only to amuse/entertain, but to get your message across (rather than presenting a bunch of discrete facts or data points).. Infographics that can do this AND be gorgeous to look at are what truly will inspire us to throw out powerpoint.
